How a Retouch Works
A Color Retouch targets only your new growth — typically the first 1–2 inches from the scalp — to blend regrowth into your existing all-over shade. We select product to match your current color and apply only at the root line, minimizing overlap so the finished line looks seamless without reprocessing the ends.
We offer options for sensitivity and coverage: Inoa is available for clients with sensitive scalps and Redken is used when gray coverage is the priority. This is strictly a root-only service designed to preserve the rest of your color while keeping the look refreshed between full color services.
When to Choose This Service
Choose a retouch when you primarily need gray coverage or a root match and your ends remain in good condition. Because this service focuses on regrowth, it’s the most time-efficient maintenance choice for busy clients who want a quick update without committing to a full all-over refresh.
If your ends are faded or you want a different overall shade, book an "All-Over Color" instead. JL Studio’s downtown Davidson location near Davidson College is convenient for students and locals who prefer short, targeted appointments over longer full-color visits.
What To Expect During Visit
Your service begins with a quick consultation so the stylist can assess your regrowth and confirm the desired match. Based on that assessment we choose between Inoa for sensitive scalps or Redken for gray coverage, then apply color to the root area only and monitor for an even, natural blend.
Plan for routine maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks to keep the root area consistent with your all-over color. JL Studio accommodates commuters and families with evening and weekend availability; we serve Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Mooresville, Charlotte, and Mount Mourne clients heading to or from I-77.
